make d.tech
Objective:
Design our school to our liking -- the type of furniture we want.
For the field trip on the second day of school, I went to the d.school at Stanford. There was a lot of furniture on wheels so it would be easier to move things around and have space for different projects. The room called the "Concept Studio" had lots of whiteboards hanging from the sides of the walls.
- You could slide the boards and more boards would be behind. Board-ception!
- The rest of the furniture was pushed up against the side of the walls.
- The desks were pushed at the corner and the chairs could sit 2 people when they are horizontal, but when put vertically, they are a stool.
- The most fun part of that room was a metal couch that when you sit on it, you could rock it, though it would be very loud.
Everyone had to partner up with another classmate to interview, so I interviewed Sam. He has a very outgoing personality, so naturally he wanted the learning environment to be interactive and interesting, such as getting involved with projects. Sam's perfect learning experience is to have a natural light throughout the room with comfortable furniture and to have intriguing projects in which you can be interactive with others and have a good time doing so. He stated that he does not want a boring learning environment.
